Make the Most Out of Your Space

Studio apartments are a fantastic living option. You can live in a great Chicago location without spending a lot of money. Making the most out of the space in a studio apartment can provide you with extra storage and more room to work or entertain guests.

Below are some simple space-saving tips for smaller apartments.

Use a Folding Table

Folding tables are a great way to save space in your eating area. You can quickly fold them down to make room for other tasks. Some tables, like the one pictured here from Ikea, include draws for storage as well.

Under Bed Storage

Your bed takes up a lot of room. The space under it can be used to store off-season clothes, shoes, extra bedding and many other items. You can buy a bed frame with built-in draws or just use a frame that has a good amount of clearance under the frame so you can fit some storage containers. Under bed storage containers come in all shapes and sizes. Some have wheels as well.

Use your TV as a Room Divider

An easy way to separate the spaces of a room is to use your TV and TV Stand as a divider. Simply face your TV toward your seating area and away from your bed. If you want to take it a step further, use a shelving system room divider like the one pictured here from Container Store.

Use a Trunk as a Coffee Table

For extra storage, use a trunk instead of a metal, glass or wood coffee table. Many companies are making trunks intended to use as coffee tables, like the one pictured here from Restoration Hardware.

Use an Over-The-Door Blow Dryer Caddy

If you need more space in your bathroom, store your blow dryer with a caddy that hangs over your vanity cabinet door. You’ll have quick access to it whenever you need it and will save some space in your bathroom.

The caddy in the image included here includes space for other bathroom items as well. A more simple version that just holds your blow dryer is also available.
